One of the parallels I have mentioned previously of course is the Covid-19 Pandemic (2020-202?) and the Spanish Influenza Pandemic of 1918-19. No, they are not linked by the base 7 system. For that to have happened, the coronavirus would have had to appear in the United States in 2016 or 2023. However, it is, as I mention in an earlier article, an exact base 7 match for the Asian Flu pandemic of 1957-58. It is the influence of Covid-19 on the social fabric of American life that has a striking similarity to 1920.
The US has entered a new age of Prohibition ... something much more far-reaching though than merely denying the public the right to drink alcoholic beverages at a bar. This time it extends to virtually all forms of socializing ... isolating singles and even breaking up families and relations. As a result, the public has found ways around the rules, but either imperil themselves or others with the virus or violate the law in some way doing so. Organized crime will eventually enter the picture when local and state governments begin policies of favoritism or by shirking their responsibilities and looking the other way. But this is much worse than any Roaring 20's prohibition as it affects so many things and activities we always took for granted ... and many people will be too afraid to circumvent the laws and will remain in a kind of limbo of house arrest with limited freedoms outside the home.
Also, unlike the Spanish Flu, there is no certain end year to the pandemic. Most pandemics run about 18 months: thus Spanish Flu (1918-19), Asian Flu (1957-58), Hong Kong Flu (1968-69), and Swine Flu (2009-10). But Covid-19 no one is certain about. We have seen estimates of 2020-21, 2020-22, 2020-23, even 2020-forever.
It is because of the pandemic there is a Prohibition. As long as this illness prevails and threatens millions of lives, Prohibition will continue. So welcome to the new Roaring 20's.
The race riots are the other concern, which have taken on the appearance of a Revolution. The question of course is whether a revolution is indeed in progress and if the revolutionaries intend to dominate the political structure of this country after the election. Are the revolutionaries serving their own interests, those of outside forces, or those of the Democratic Party? If the latter is the case, you will see an end to the violence the moment Joe Biden is declared the winner of the 2020 Election.
However there are natural cycles that have run through American politics since at least the dawn of the 20th Century. And these are the real reason the Democratic Party is favored to win.
There is a Party Era followed by a Shared Reign followed by another Party Era (always the opposite party) followed by another Shared Reign followed by another Party Era and so on. The Party Era is either 20 years in length or 24 minus 4 years in length. The great Democratic Era ran from 1933 to 1953: three terms of Franklin D. Roosevelt, initially elected in 1932, followed by a fourth partial term for FDR in 1944 (who died in 1945), completed by Vice President Harry S. Truman (16 years), then Truman reelected for one term in 1948 (4 years). As there was no significant opposition to temporarily disrupt the party's reign for four years and no term limits yet in place, the Democratic Party ruled for 20 years.
Dwight D. Eisenhower ushered in the Shared Reign period in 1953 (elected 1952) and Republican Party rule ensued for 8 years. The reign of power switched from Republican to Democrat in 1961 with the election of John F. Kennedy in 1960. Again, Democrats reigned for 8 years under Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.
In 1968 Republican candidate Richard M. Nixon was elected and began the great Republican Era. Nixon was a two-term president, but resigned and allowed his vice president Gerald R. Ford to complete his second term. This time, however, the party era was disrupted by Democratic challenger Jimmy Carter. Carter was a one-term president and his 4 years are then subtracted from what would have otherwise been a twenty-year Republican party reign. Ronald Reagan defeated Carter in 1980 and resumed the Republican Era for the next 8 years. Vice President George H. W. Bush, elected in 1988, completed the era with the 1992 election. Thus, the Republican Era endured 20 years out of 24 years (1969 to 1993).
Another shared reign began under Bill Clinton (1993-2001) at that time and lasted for 8 years, followed by Republican George W. Bush for another 8 years (2001-2009).
Which brings us full circle to the start of the new Democratic Era begun in 2009 with the election of Barack Obama in 2008. And just as the Republican era begun by Nixon-Ford was disrupted for 4 years by Jimmy Carter in 1976, so has the new Democratic era been disrupted by the election of Donald Trump in 2016. If the cycle remains true, Trump will lose this year, 2020, and Joe Biden will be elected and resume the new Democratic Era.
With 8 years already run by Obama, the Democratic Party has another 12 years left.
