An important discovery which has eluded me for over ten years has possibly clarified who the Whore of Babylon may be ... and who she may not be. The disclosure, oddly enough, was revealed in the classic Fritz Lang silent spectacular of 1927, Metropolis.
Now, in this age of artificial intelligence and hi-tech robotics, we have a more clear understanding what the "image" referred to in Revelation 13 actually may be. The "image" is a replicant: an artificially intelligent creation "made in the image" of either a living person or a dead person, a being that looks, moves, and behaves like the person in whose image he or she was created in. A phony, in other words ... a counterfeit whose purpose will be to deceive humanity and undo all the work the human being it will impersonate has done. The reason?

False Maria/Hel Robot = The Whore of Babylon
Hel = The robot itself, before taking on Maria's image, is a crude likeness of Hel, a huge metallic bust in Rotwang's lab. Hel was a woman created by Joh for Rotwang to have as his wife. But Hel later cheated on Rotwang and had a child with Joh. Hel died giving birth to Joh's child, Freder.
Returning to the concept of the "image" in the Book of Revelation.
At the time "the image of the beast" is worshipped, the real man in whose likeness the image of the beast will be created will actually be DEAD and in HELL:
"The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is." (Revelation 17:8)
But it will not only be "the image of the beast" who imitates another, in that case one who is no longer alive, but also there will be an impersonation or "image" of a woman who is alive but hidden away. This false female will be the one known as "the Whore of Babylon."
In whose IMAGE shall the Whore of Babylon be created you may well ask? The Book of Revelation provides an excellent candidate for WHO the whore may be impersonating:

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up unto God and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The Woman Clothed With the Sun (also known as The Woman of the Apocalypse) will not be dead, but will be kept safe and hidden from Satan and the governments and leaders who shall be in league with him. The places where she shall be given refuge will be in "the wilderness."
The whore of Babylon will either be 1) a human lookalike or 2) an artificially intelligent replicant who shall imitate this woman.
WHERE do we first find the "Whore of Babylon?"
The same place where the Woman Clothed With the Sun will be in hiding: in "the wilderness."

The twelve stars represent the 12 tribes of Israel and, thus, they signify Israel. But they also signify the 12 tribes of Israel IN EUROPE! The 12 stars of the European Union. The EU. See the flag. 12 stars. Can we go farther? Israel in some sort of union with the EU? Perhaps, but it would not be necessary.
But consider this. For Israel to be so important to world events in Bible prophecy, to be the hub about which the machinery of the world revolves, it must become more than simply the most powerful military nation in the Middle East. It must be a global power center of some sort, in league with a much larger alliance of nations. That would explain all the nations from the coasts of the earth in the Book of Jeremiah that come to the aid of Israel and ultimately bring about the eternal destruction of the land of the Chaldeans, that which was once Babylon, portions of which are now in Iraq and Syria.

Stepping out of the brightness of the sun's rays, hand in hand, were a Pharaoh and Queen Nefertiti. Cradled in the Queen's other arm was a baby, his ragged, soiled clothing in startling contrast to the gorgeously arrayed royal couple. 'The eyes of this child were all-knowing,' Jeane says softly. 'They were full of wisdom and knowledge.'"
The Pharoah was Akhnaten, the monotheistic king of Egypt who worshipped the sun god Aton. Nefertiti was his queen consort. However, because this was a vision of a FUTURE event, these were neither Akhnaten or Nefertiti, but archetypes of two people who are either alive now or will be in the future.
Note that the woman is carrying a baby, one with all-knowing eyes "full of wisdom and knowledge." Sounds a lot like the "man child" the woman of Revelation 12 gives birth to.
The desert is "the wilderness."

But how is this possible? If the Woman of the Apocalypse is to hide in the desert for 3.5 years after her child is caught up to God's throne, and that Satan has been cast down to Earth, furious because he knows he has such a short time remaining, doesn't all this action take place then during the great Tribulation? After all 42 months (3.5 years) is the time given for the reign of the beast.

However, after Satan is defeated at the conclusion of the War in Heaven and then exiled to planet Earth, he goes after the woman again to persecute her for having given birth to the man-child AND to make war with "the remnant of her seed" (ie. her followers). Thus, it is quite likely this woman will be associated with a coming Christian Church that is no longer denominational but unified. Indeed, it may be a bit more complicated even than that.
Thus, the woman FADES from view in the wilderness and is replaced by her son and by a new Church and its followers. This Church will face persecution for "a time, and times, and half a time." Yes, that could be 3.5 years, but not necessarily. It could, in fact, be a score of years (20 years), plus two score of years (40 years) and a half of a score of years (10 years). Three score and ten ... or 70 years. Plenty of time for the child to grow to be a man and become a great Christian king of the world and for an ensuing persecution to follow after his death.
70 years to a (formerly) angelic being who is immortal, like Satan, is a drop in the bucket. To us it is a lifetime, or the better part of a lifetime if we are lucky to live to be in our 80s or 90s. But to God and other immortal beings, even a century is but a blink of an eye.
Maybe Nostradamus was right and the end year will be approximately 2242 AD or 2243 AD. What if the year of the man-child's birth is 2018? That would leave 224 years. That would be 64 years as "a time," plus 128 years as "two times" (192 years), plus 32 years as "half a time" (224 years). 2018 plus 224 = 2242.

Nostradamus tells us the persecution of the Christian Church would have its earliest beginnings during the time of the French Revolution and reign of Terror. But the worst of it wouldn't happen until humanity reaches the end of the seventh millennium and approaches the eighth.
This latter period following the future, great Christian king's reign is mentioned in the Book of Daniel as "the latter time" ... "when the transgressors are come to the full":
Daniel 8:19:25: "Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power. And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

To "come to the full" means to complete: something begun takes x number of years to "come to the full." For Nostradamus, that period of "coming to the full" occurs around the time the orbit of Pluto next moves inside of the orbit of Neptune: September 2226 AD. Thus the last 16 or 17 years of human history will witness warfare, persecutions, and natural disasters unlike anything ever seen before ... all culminating in the 7 year rule of the beast and false prophet.
Will there be any time that might mark that future and final time as a precedent, as an archetype? We have been and are living in that time NOW, and have been for the last 37 years (since 1979 and the dawn of the computer age). There will be NO OTHER GENERATION LIKE OURS AGAIN UNTIL 2226 AD! And OUR GENERATION has not yet seen the completion of its own terrible design.

Will Angelina give birth to a miracle baby in 2017?
Despite having had an oophorectomy to avoid getting ovarian cancer, reports on message boards can be found on the internet of women who became pregnant some time after having the procedure (varying accounts and varying lengths of time after the procedure). The human body, as is well known to scientists, has remarkable regenerative capabilities, more so in some individuals than in others. Scientists are even working on research to see if a human being can one day regrow a severed hand or limb or eye retina:

Bear in mind that this is all speculation about Angelina Jolie. She may NOT be the Woman of Revelation 12 despite some similarities to Princess Diana.
For one thing, she has NO LOVE for Israel according to reports and has condemned the Jewish state on a number of occasions. HOWEVER, she is still loosely tied to the 12 stars of the European Union in her role as Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as well as Honorary Dame Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (DCMG).
