And at sunset, and especially a half hour later during that period known as Last Light, you will see why American composer Mitchell Parish composed the song "Deep Purple" back in the 1933. Stretching back from where the sun has set you will detect, more and more to the south, east, and northeast, the violet and, yes, deep purple color of the sky. Maybe if you have lived in certain parts of the United States you will say, big deal, I see that every day and night. But that's because your region has less pollution in the air and also much less LIGHT pollution.
I live in the Great Lakes of Western New York. All through much of COVID-19 lockdown the area was cloudy, due to a protracted winter that did not want to let go and a rainy spring. Only since June have we really had clear skies on an almost daily basis. When I saw it for the first time it was like seeing an old friend. You see, I'm 66 and I remember when the skies used to look this way in the 1950's and early 1960's. On July 4, 1975, at age 21, I looked up out of curiosity, remembering the days when the skies turned violet and purple as we waited for the fireworks to be shot off ... and saw only the usual powder blue, the kind of blue you see on the chalk you use on a pool cue stick. And until this month, that was what I continued to see. But not anymore.
Coronavirus Offers a Clear View of What Causes Air Pollution
The coronavirus shutdowns are giving scientists an opportunity they never thought they would have: to see what would happen to the planet if the world's economy went on hiatus.
In addition C02 levels are way down ... carbon dioxide levels are the lowest they have been since World War II.
Coronavirus could trigger biggest fall in global carbon dioxide since Second World War, scientists say
The coronavirus pandemic could mean this year's world carbon dioxide pollution output falls by the largest amount in over 70 years, according to a network of scientists examining emissions data.
Then again, I must ask, was lockdown actually an EXPERIMENT to see if we could collectively undo the damage to our environment of over half a century?
This is a POSITIVE CONSPIRACY THEORY if that is true. It means there was no sinister ulterior motives behind lockdown, but the greater good for all. Think about it ... would the world have ever agreed to stop everything just to see if we could reverse many decades of environmental damage due to pollution and greenhouse gas? Not on your life ... but out of fear of contracting or spreading COVID-19 ... of course!
This, by the way, does not mean that COVID-19 is not real or deadly for some of us. But just maybe "LOCKDOWN" served TWO purposes, both good. If so, "the powers that be" should be congratulated. Perhaps these wise men and women do know what is best for humanity?
But the work is not over ... we must see to it that we don't go back to the way things have been. Reductions in emissions and industrial pollution must remain low. We MUST convert to cleaner forms of power ... FUSION, AIR, ELECTRIC, the time to convert our transportation technology has arrived!
A different view, one I never thought I would write.
Looks like TPTB don't want us to know what lockdown achieved in regards to our environment. On the contrary, if they are willing to resort to plane and jet pollution to hide the atmospheric results of next to no air pollution from cars, trucks and industry for months, that proves they really could care less about our environment.
They are liars.
That also means WATCH OUT ... what they have planned for us is nothing short of EVIL.
